A black gay community icon, the New Jersey artist combines hip hop with house, electro and dance music in powerful, electrifying soundscapes. His explosiveness, energy and outrageous outfits have turned him into a key figure in the queer hip hop scene of the early 2010s in New York. Since his debut, Cakes has thrilled audiences with his flow, his boldness, his sincerity and his sensitivity, challenging the macho clichés of 1990s rap. To open the night, he’ll count on Uzi Freyja to raise the temperature. The duo, which was born from a meeting between Paris-based Cameroonian Kelly Rose and Christian Bagnalasta, aka Stuntman5, appeals to everybody with their noisy urban beats, enhanced with the singer’s powerful voice and outstanding MCing.
