The new Cité Bleue is in the dark. More precisely, in a dark blue-magenta kind of darkness, which bears the enigmatic code name #16161d, and which is particularly conducive to spotlighting singing bodies. Featuring choreography and musical composition by Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou, the immersive journey of A BEGINNING #16161D invites us to discover the physicality of voices. Five dancers equipped with portable lights use their beams to highlight and distinguish between body movements and vocal movements, in a wide-ranging classical repertoire of vocal works from Allegri’s Miserere to After the End. In this construction game, the invisible and the intangible become the materials of an astonishing audiovisual composition that heightens reality a notch.
