Tim Etchells GB
L'Addition
Theater
After serving up the complete works of Shakespeare in a domestic setting in 2021, iconoclastic British director Tim Etchells returns to La Bâtie – Festival de Genève with a slapstick comedy show. A table, a chair, a bottle of wine, and a glass are all that’s needed to loosen the tongues of a customer and a waiter, played by hilarious performers Bert & Nasi. Recent winners of the Forced Entertainment award for their contribution to the British contemporary scene, the duo stand out for the boldness of their ideas and the topicality of their subjects, including the prevailing austerity. In a stripped-down restaurant, the customer orders a drink, and the drama unfolds. Misunderstanding or incompetence on the part of the waiter? They try to reverse the roles, to play the scene over and over again. From rehearsals to comical twists, questions emerge: who works for whom? who exploits whom? who has the power? This hilarious, nightmarish, and ferocious exercise in style leaves one question unanswered: who’ll be paying the bill at the end?
Nyon: free admission with reservation, part of Un Été sous les Marronniers. Bring warm clothes if necessary. Cancellation in case of bad weather.
Due to poor weather conditions, the Ville-la-Grand show has been cancelled.
