La Ribot ES/CH
Asier Puga ES
Juana ficción
Dance / music
Thirty years after the premiere of El triste que nunca os vido, La Ribot returns to the figure of Queen Joan I of Castile, in collaboration with Spanish conductor Asier Puga. After sinking into melancholy following the death of her husband, Joan I of Castile was stripped of her crown and imprisoned in Tordesillas. Set to natural light and lively music, Juana ficción brings back to life a woman who has been erased from political history. In a sonic journey through time, the show brings together La Ribot’s choreography and Iñaki Estrada’s compositions in a round dance that brings together dancers and audience around the orchestra, who are in turn encircled by a vibrant choir. In this concentric labyrinth, the spirit of renaissance, and hints of jazz and techno mingled with electro sounds breathe life into the passion of the fallen and humiliated queen, and eternal lover of the arts.
