Formed in Geneva in 2018, Espuma Antigua opens up baroque music by adding electric guitar notes and revisiting arrangements with jazz flourishes. Initially, the band set out to rehabilitate forgotten female composers of baroque music while adding a touch of modernity in Spleen Baroque, a surprising, poetic debut LP. Buoyed by this success, the trio – now a quartet with the addition of a drummer – continues to explore baroque repertoire, unearthing its treasures and giving them a modern aesthetic. At L’Alhambra, the outfit, led by singer Flora Ageron, will unveil their new project, Continuo, released a few days earlier.

Swiss guitar prodigy Louis Matute is coming to the Alhambra to present tracks from his fourth album, Small Variations from the Previous Day, accompanied by his Large Ensemble of sharp and talented musicians. Matute’s music is full of ideas from near and far, blending pop and jazz sounds with his favourite South American influences in a delicate, ethereal universe. Paying particular attention to melody in his compositions, Matute has invited Brazilian singer Gabi Hartmann and her velvety voice to provide the vocals.
