Max Richter is one of the most influential and acclaimed composers of his generation. Known for his ability to blend traditional orchestrations with modern electronic elements, Richter cultivates a free spirit that allows him to desacralise so-called learned music. With solo albums, ballets, video installations, theatre, television, and film, the pianist and composer breaks free from codes and takes on one project after another with ambition and curiosity. Melancholy, epic, intriguing, Richter's music covers every emotion, every atmosphere, whether minimalist or powerfully orchestral. And it's at La Bâtie that he has chosen to kick off his world tour by coming to Grand Théâtre to present his ninth solo album, In A Landscape. Designed as an instant self-portrait imbued with his influences, this album also aims to reconcile polarities by bringing together electronic and acoustic sounds, humankind and nature, existential questions and simple pleasures. He will then play The Blue Notebooks, released 20 years ago as a protest against the US invasion of Iraq, whose themes have illustrated numerous film productions.
