Les inégalités de genre dans la musique électronique
Table ronde
Audience-artists meeting
Clubbing and electronic music industry are a particularly inaccessible and hostile environment for women and gender minorities. Across the board, women and gender minorities are not only under-represented but are also victims of sexist and sexual violence. The situation is alarming, especially when you consider that some music festivals still feature very few women*. Away from the limelight, the reality behind the scenes is no rosier: it is hard to find your place as a female programmer, to make your mark in the predominantly male technical world, or to break into production and post-production. How do you find your place as a woman* in the music industry? How do you overcome sexist and misogynistic representations?
Fortunately, the situation is changing, and the music industry is being shaken up by a new generation of DJs, programmers, agents, and promoters. This round table discussion will give them a voice and allow us to celebrate the efforts of those who are working towards a more inclusive music industry.
